Great Midwestern Brewery Tour, part 3

The Journey, Day 2:

Now that I am in full swing of this brewery tour, I wake up with a sense of the amazing new things that I was going to experience. I headed out to explore good ole Ohio.

Hey Tony... O-H...

Great Lakes Brewing Company (https://www.greatlakesbrewing.com/home)

This is the third brewery on the Top 25 Craft Brewery list. The brewery was impressive. The quality was reinforced by their attention to detail.
Impressive, right?

I enjoyed the Dortmunder Gold. This beer did not disappoint.

I decided to have a sandwich before I hit my next spot. I had heard great things about Melt Bar and Grilled, so I made my way over. I know this is a story or beer and breweries... but the Monte Cristo was straight up on point!
Nom nom

Anyhow, I digress. I headed to my next stop.

Fat Head's Brewery & Saloon (http://fatheadscleveland.com/)

The parking lot for this place was a turn off. I know we aren't supposed to judge books by their covers... but I did. Unfortunately, because this place made great beer. The bartenders were well-versed.

The dry goods area was a disarray, but it can't all be great.

Since I was in Cleveland exploring, I wanted to see how hard East 1999 really was. Everyone remembers the 1995 classic rap album E. 1999 Eternal by the Bone Thugs n Harmony, right?

Well, this album was named after the street they grew up... or something like that. When I finally found the street corner, a lot of my childhood beliefs of the "hardness" of this group had the rugged pulled out from under them.

Really?! No skulls anywhere. No apocalypse.

Oh well. I needed to make some good time back up to Ann Arbor. Both my cousins, Andrew and Emma, were joining us for dinner, and I had a couple touristy stops on the way.

You may not know this, but I am sucker for light houses.

So I had to take a picture of Marblehead Bay Light House. I then headed up to Toledo.

Maumee Bay Brewing Co (http://www.theoliverhousetoledo.com/)

I couldn't seem to get my head around the history of this place. It used to be Buckeye brewery? Now it is Maumee Bay, but they don't have a website that works. I did enjoy the Breakfast stout.

The entrance way was full of history. It was a beaut!

And I really liked the feel of this place. I just wish someone would come make sense of it all.

It was time to head back to Ann Arbor.
Emma, Andrew, Trevor

After dinner we headed out to enjoy some more local brews.

Ashley's (http://www.ashleys.com/)

I gave the Short's Belleaire Brown a try. It was a good beer. To be honest, I have enjoyed most of the beers I had tried at this point.

This beer bar was voted as a Top Beer Bar in the country. It had its merits.

Very cool layout. Cool atmosphere. I could see myself spending some time there.

Thus concluded the second day.

TALLY SO FAR:
